About Us
I grew up with many dogs. We had big dogs, small
dogs, mixed breeds and purebreds. All I can remember is that the
companionship of a dog was a big part of my growing up. Stonewall Labradors was started in 1994 when
as an adult I purchased my first
Labrador,
Mellie.
I didn't know
much about Labs back then, I only
knew they were
wonderful
family dogs and had bountiful personalities. Mellie did a great job at teaching
me what I wanted in a lab (and what I didn't want!). Through her I was introduced to Competitive Obedience and Hunt Tests; both of
which got me hooked into the sport of pure-bred dogs.
Mel was easy to train, but difficult to rely on. No matter how much I "proofed"
her, I never ever knew what she was going to do. She did get her CD easily with
2 first place and 1 second place finish. She is retired and is the resident couch potato and
instigator of all that is trouble.
Along
the way, I met some wonderful people from the LRC Southern California who took
me under their wing.
I bought
Taylor a year later. She is so full of the Labrador temperament. She is
so willing to please. It was Taylor who made me fall in love with this breed.
She had flawless Labrador temperament. Taylor quickly and easily earned her CD, CDX and WCX.
We lost Taylor to cancer a few years ago and there is an emptiness in my heart
that will never be filled. She was a special dog to me. After traveling to all the shows with the girls, I was bit by the bug and really
wanted an all-around dog. I wanted to compete in Conformation, Obedience and
Field. I was lucky to own a male out of a litter sired by CH Dickendall
Arnold. I loved all the Arnold dogs I saw in the show ring. I loved the head,
the face and mostly the temperament. That is how
Guinness came to live with me. He has done well in all areas and earned the LRCSC
All-Around Labrador Retriever Award in 2002. He is championship pointed,
currently has his CDX, SH and WCX. He is competing for both Utility and Master
Hunter titles.
I
continue to compete in Conformation, Obedience and Hunt Tests with my dogs.
I am in awe of the innate versatility of the Labrador Retriever breed. A
new addition is
Buzz,
CH Hunterleigh Tabatha Headline
JH, CD. Buzz is a wonderful example of the breed and has excelled in all areas
of competition early in his career. Keep an eye out for him, he's a good
one! Buzz finished his Championship quickly with the expert handling of his
buddy
Erin Karst. In 2006 Buzz completed
3 titles, CH- Champion of Record (Conformation/Breed), JH -Junior Hunter (Hunt
Tests) and CD - Companion Dog (Obedience). He also earned the LRCSC All -around
Labrador Retriever Award in 2006. He is my second dog to do so. What an honor it is to own and train
another versatile example of the Labrador Breed. And recently,
Gabby
has joined our home. We look forward to many
fun adventures with her in the coming months! Thank you to Jane Wewer and Carol
Heidl for trusting me with puppies from your wonderful lines.
First and foremost, our dogs are part of our family and have full access to the
house and yard.
All my dogs have working titles and represent the breed standard. I am an AKC approved Judge for Retriever Hunt Tests, past board member and treasurer for the
LRC Southern California
and a founding board member for the
So.
California Lab Rescue.
I am also a member of High Desert LRC,
San Diego LRC and LRC Inc. I hope you enjoy my dogs,
I sure do! Please see my links page to find out more about
